Route Colour Codes:
Yellow: NON Technical - suitable for beginners and those who are "Not So Fit"
Map will be added soon
Green: An anti-clockwise 15 km trail which has no technical challenge for the experienced riders. There is mainly single track with some Jeep track. A GOOD training ride for those training for marathons...15 km but there are 300 meters of climbing. Not too steep but steep enough to build strength and endurance...15 km but then what is wrong with doing laps?...15 km graded according to the IMBA grading system ( a green trail will have no obstacles which can touch the peddles.)There are escape routes for those who find the trails too challenging for their fitness levels. I say no technical challenge but any leel of rider will benefit by training on the green trail.... mainly....IT IS SAFE.
There are quite a few fatigue distractions..Impala, Springbock, Black Wildebeest, a happy Zebra Family of three, many small rodents can be seen....mongoose, Dassies, cane rats, jackell, scivit cats and even the greater Jennet. Plenty of porcupine and hedgehogs are seen at night. LOO
Blue: A total distance ridden of 30km if all the blue and green sections are combined. Very Technical - NOT suitable for inexperienced riders. The first encounter with the technical blue sections will be LOOP A. You will enter "Prince" which is an awesome piece of single track. Start mildly through the bush with a challenging downhill followed by a sharp right turn. Many riders have been found to be walking but confirm that they will be BACK. Some ups and downs twists and turns an 1.2km later you get spat out onto some jeep track only to re-enter KUDU which is a 600 m loop that is a really nice section. Onto the jeep track for about 50 m and you enter the attention grabbing AMON. mostly a challenging downhill but a nice "BITE" as you reach the end of this 1 km loop only to keep climbing gently till you pas Mzuzu ( which for now is closed) and you can turn right into Lawrence which has a caracter of it's own. Wending your way along the single track you will go through some 300 year old ruins only to re-join the green trail. A 5 km loop
Once again your choice is to repeat the A Loop or turn left onto the start of the B LOOP. This is not as challanging but half way through when you start the climb up " heartbreak hill " you will experience the hill challenge. You can choose to ride the original BLUE climb or take the split up " DION" which is the hill we will use for the National XCO Challenge in May. Now here is a challenge for you. A solid 10min climb that keeps you honest! At the top you will turn into "Abraham" with it's trade mark of the two little drop offs! as you exit the bush and turn left you will once again meet up with the green trail. A 5 km loop.
